What is line betting?
Line betting is a form of sports betting which involves the bookmaker handicapping a team by creating a margin which equalizes the outcome of the betting. The term line is derived from the difference or margin, hence the name line betting. Line betting is applicable in situations where we have only two possible outcomes.
For instance, if the bookmaker thinks that one side is better than the other by 10 points then you can stake them to triumph by twelve or more points. Otherwise, you can place a stake for the opposite team to lose by less than 12 points. This grants you the opportunity to back a team at favorable odds without having to worry about the Head to Head market.
Most players are at times confused by the margin bets since the margin points are used in determining the field markets. Nevertheless, the two are very distinct. The bookmaker is not allowed to handicap a player or either of the teams.
