Copa America 2019

Brazil will host the 46th installment of Copa America. This is the world's oldest international football competition that raises a global appeal. Players in the premier league all the way to the 'J' league will be participating with heavyweights such as Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay participating.

The competition kicks off on the 14th of June as Brazil faces off against Bolivia in Sao Paulo.

This male football championship organized by CONMEBOL, the football ruling body of South America, is up for an intense competition where the winner will earn the right to compete for the 2021 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Copa America 2019

Brazil was not the initial host of 2019 Copa America. In fact, it was to be Chile, the defending champions. Hosting arrangements were supposed to be in alphabetical order according to policy, where Brazil was to host the 2015 Copa América. But, Brazil had already hosted the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2014 FIFA World Cup and, the 2016 Summer Olympics. Hence, they didn't host the Copa América. After discussions by the federation, an agreement towards swapping was made and approved by CONMEBOL, in 2012.

The CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez shared his sentiments agreeing with the decision that in fact, Brazil will be wonderful hosts to the 2019 Copa America. Since 1989, Brazil had not been a host to this regional football tournament. They are excited and thrilled as this is one of the most regarded football competitions in the world.

Copa America 2019 Winner Predictions

There is a lot of buzz about who will be the winners. Hot players like Argentina, Brazil and Chile are coming out hot and heavy for this championship. Another surprise can be Ecuador who were the recent winners to the South American under 20 championship. Chile being a huge contender will take its aging squad to defend their 3rd consecutive Copa America crown. Looking to defend and win will earn them a title of the first team to successfully defend themselves twice. Of course after the gurus, Argentina who defended their title in 1947.

Argentina, on the other hand, looks to use Lionel Messi to ship them to victory. Lucky for them, he is also looking to get his first international honors.

Columbia will be using Carlos Queiroz to earn his 1st tournament and fight against Messi and Suarez.

Uruguay leading with the most experienced and youthful players looks to also place heavy competition in the game.

Venezuela and Ecuador are hoping to upset the odds and place them in their favor by filling their squad with under 20 finalists.

Winner Prediction for Chile Under Group C

Being the defending champions three times in a row can be a difficult task. Having win against Argentina, they are hopeful about taking the trophy again. There is a great expectation on Alexis Sanchez who's fans are hoping for a hat trick. Having made a move from Arsenal to Manchester United, Chile is hoping they will be the toughest team to beat under group C. Japan look to overcome Chile as well as Uruguay and Qatar after their loss last time. Hence, they want to come in guns blazing to defeat all 3.

Uruguay is also looking to kick out Chile with their three world class players, Diego Godin, Luis Suarez and, Edison Cavani. Ecuador will be playing their under 20 championship players as they might have a better shot.

Winner Prediction for Argentina Under group B

The legendary Lionel Messi has his last chance to bring victory for Argentina in this Copa América. With much hope for this team, they are a leading contender for the trophy. Reaching the finals of the last two times and losing to penalties, Messi seems to carry a heavy cross for the national team.

Rumors claim that he may actually not feature in the games but with Aguero, Di Maria, Rojo, Otamendi and, Higuain, the team has a good enough chance of scooping the trophy.

Other contenders in the group including Colombia have Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez who are hard to ignore. David Ospina, Tottenham's Davinson Sanchez, and Everton's Yerry Mina will also be there to fight for the trophy. Paraguay is not far off from the title considering their runners up position behind Uruguay 8 years ago. They may have inexperienced players but that doesn't rule them out completely against Argentina.

As for Qatar, being the 2022 world cup host, they are ready to earn that spot. The team will come thrilled and with energy to the championship.

Winner Prediction for Brazil Under Group A

The world cup 2018 really had Brazil shining until they were defeated by Belgium in the last eight. The samba boys of Brazil are looking to get some opportunities to win the trophy. As history has dictated, the host always seems to be a step ahead in the Copa América so they are expected to really kick it off in this competition.

Even though Brazil has not won a major trophy since 2007, they are still hopeful. Neymar's and his injury-hit record will be under intense pressure and scrutiny from the likes of Coutinho and Richarlison.

Bolivar, Brazil's first opponent, has not seen the top since 1963, but have come close to the quarterfinals in 95' and 2015. They have been great players and therefore seen to be real contenders with decent results.

Venezuela has the likes of Tomas Rincon and Salomon Rondon. With over 50 appearances for both, they have a chance of hitting the championship hard. Although, they do have the political instability factor back at home.

Peru might not pose such a great concern seeing they have inexperienced players and a total fail in their world cup 2018 performance

Final Prediction

The main contenders for the trophy are Argentina and Brazil. Even with the defending champions playing hard and strong, these two teams came ready to battle for the title and the reward. Plus they are rated favorites for many.
